Submitting Data for Western States Historical Marriage Index

Steps to follow:

• E-Mail or contact the Family History Center so we can confirm that the data is needed and is not duplicating work already being done.
• Prepare an Excel spreadsheet to help us automatically upload your data. If you do not have access to Excel let us know so that we can approve other spreadsheet formats.
  • In preparing the spreadsheet follow the example below and use the subExample.xls file.
  • Do not use the apostrophe '  to indicate a string in the spreadsheet, just type the data into the cell.
  • Dates should be in the date-month-year format 20 Jan 2004, no hyphens. To achieve this format you may have to create a custom date format. You can do this by selecting the dates and choose format cells, find the closest date match to 20 Jan 2004, and then choose the custom options and take out the hyphens.
• If you have any question in your spreadsheet, e-mail us a sample of what you have and we can confirm if the formatting is correct.
• After reviewing the records, send them to us by e-mail. If the file is too large for our e-mail capacity for attachments, you can mail them to us on a CD. Make sure to keep a backup copy on your computer!
